China-Europe Freight Train Operation Updates (Week 52)

Date of release:2024-01-05 Author: Click:

The bad weather in Xinjiang lingers, and the transshipment at Alashankou has significantly increased, with an average of 6-12 days, while that at the other three ports remains stable. The handling at Khorgos is about 5-8 days, that at Manzhouli is about 6-12 days, and at Erenhot is about 6-15 days.

As Christmas holiday approaches this week, some trains are reported to queue up in front of European and Russian destinations. The T/T from various domestic stations to Mala and Lodzs is about 13-15 days, and the T/T to Duisburg is about 21-24 days; It takes an average of 20 days for trains to arrive in Russia, with the fastest T/T from Chongqing to Moscow via Khorgos being 15 days, and the longest T/T from Guangzhou to Moscow via Erenhot being 28 days.

The supply of spaces and freight rates for each route are as follows:

European route:

Affected by the ocean transport, the Europe-bound rail service has also begun to experience big fluctuations. Rail platform companies have rescheduled their plans for January and raised booking prices respectively. The booking prices from Xi'an, Chongqing, Chengdu, Zhengzhou and other stations to Mala, Duisburg, and Hamburg have increased by $400-500. Yiwu has confirmed that their prices will increase by $1500 after January 1st, and the freight rates from Jinan, Jiaozhou and other northern regions to European terminals will also be lifted to over $4000. Up to now, the spaces on the Xi'an Express  for January have been sold out, and those in Chengdu and Chongqing for early January are basically fully booked. Guangzhou Zengcheng, Suzhou and other stations announced that they will gradually reopen their westbound service in mid-Jan.

Russian route:

The Russian New Year is coming soon, inquiries from Russia consignees have significantly decreased. The supply still exceeds demand, and there were plenty of spaces left in early January. The booking prices at stations such as Xi'an, Shenyang, and Guangzhou have not changed much, while Chengdu and Chongqing have once again lowered their booking prices by about $200.
