Deutsche Bahn (DB) has officially started the sale process of its logistics subsidiary DB Schenker. Potential buyers were invited via an advertisement in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, 19 December, to express their interest before noon on 15 January 2024.
Three investment banks have now been selected for this purpose: Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank. Among the possible buyers are the freight forwarders DHL and the Danish DSV. Recently, the investment fund ADQ from Abu Dhabi also joined the bidders list.
In addition, the shipping companies MSC and Maersk and the investment funds Carlyle Group and CVC Capital are also mentioned as potentially interested.
Analysts say DB Schenker is the last major global network forwarder still for sale. DB has not yet announced exactly when the sales process will be concluded, but it is expected sometime in the second half of next year.
