Following after Maersk, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and ONE, another shipping company has announced a surcharge on the European Union (EU) Emissions Trading System (ETS).
On Monday (November 13), Evergreen Shipping announced that from July 1, 2024, it will charge a corresponding ETS surcharge for the origin or arrival of goods in Europe, including 27 euros /TEU for containers shipped from Asia to Europe and 41 euros /TEU for reefers. Shipping from Asia to the Mediterranean and North Africa will be charged €23 /TEU for containers and €35 /TEU for reefers.
