In the first half of 2023, a total of 8,641 freight trains were operated and 936,000 TEUs of cargo were shipped, with year-on-year increase of 16% and 30% respectively. However, the volume of containers shipped to and from Europe accounts for 12% only with the number of 114,000 TEUs, down 48.48% y-o-y; both WB and EB directions experienced sharp declines.
73,734 TEUs were shipped via WB trains, a decrease of 48.75% compare to the same period in last year; Poland, one of the main destination counties, took the frist place with majority of the amount of 60,544 TEUs; Germany ranked the second with 7,060 TEUs, dropped over 80% y-o-y; Belgium, Hungary and the Netherlands ranked the third, fourth and fifth.
In terms of the EB, the volume declined of 47.92% to 40,314 TEUs; in contrast to EB, Germany took the lead of outbound shipments with 36,798 TEUs; Poland shipped 2,186 TEUs, which ranked the second place but with a significant decline of 83.56%; followed by the Netherlands as the third.
