Chengdu International Railway Port restarted the cold chain service for imported meat products, becoming the first railway port in China to resume importing meat since the outbreak of Covid-19.
On May 7, a freight train from Moscow to Chengdu entered from Port of Alashankou, Xinjiang, and is expected to arrive at Chengdu International Railway Port within this week.
The freight train has carried 3 containers loaded with chicken and other meat by-products in a value of about 2 million RMB. After the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, the cold chain import via railway transportation was suspended. This is the first batch of imported meat to enter the country through the China-Europe freight train, as a measure for China to further restore the supply chain after the Covid-19 control restrictions are lifted in January 2023.
