According to Alphaliner's latest report, the 2M alliance of MSC and Maersk, two of the world's largest shipping companies, will permanently suspend the AE1/Shogun loop, one of its six Eurasia routes, after MSC takes over five 24,000TEU container ships.
The AE1/Shogun loop, which the two carriers have been operating through their 2M alliance, has completely canceled all sailings ex China in early Dec 2022, , due to the weak demand and cargo volumes began to slump since Sep 2022. It was the first Eurasia route suspended by the alliance.
Alphaliner's report states that the AE1/Shogun Loop containing 12 vessels ranging from 13,000 to 20,50 TEUs, with a sailing cycle of 11 weeks, calling at Ningbo-Xiamen-Yantian-Tanjung Pelepas -Rotterdam-Bremerhaven-Rotterdam-Tangier-Selalai-Hong Kong-Ningbo. Alphaliner said the route would now be suspended permanently.
