Chittagong Port, Bangladesh's largest container port, recently issued a new regulation of container weight limit, which started from February 10; stating that a container (either 20 or 40 feet containers) can carry a maximum gross weight of 30.48 tonnes of cargo (including tare weight). Announced by Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) office.
Previously, Chittagong stipulated that a 20 feet container (TEU) could hold up to 24 tonnes of cargo only. The weight limit for 20 feet container has been raised by 6.48 tons.
