China-Europe trains in 2022 drops in volume significantly

It has become an indisputable fact that the freight volume of China-Europe railway in 2022 has decreased significantly. According to UTLC statistics, the volume between China and Europe-wide was 410,520 TEU, down 33.59% y-o-y.

 

Westbound:

In terms of Westbound, Poland ranks the top with a total volume of 178,520 TEUs, down 13.41% y-o-y; next coming with Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, respectively with volumes of 64,404 TEUs, 15,504 TEUs and 7,896 TEUs; accordingly all of them declined by 55.16%, 22.77% and 70.88% year on year.

 

Eastbound:

Germany was the one of few countries whose export volume was far great its import volume, eastbound volume reached 107,300 TEUs last year, down 21.82% from 2021. Poland was the second with volumes of 17,216 TEUs, down 61.19% y-o-y. Followed by the Netherlands with volumes of 6,788 TEUs, down 41.54% y-o-y.

 

It has to be pointed out Hungary also saw an increase of 204% of eastbound volumes, with volumes of 986 TEUs.
